Senior Mentor, Trips

As a native Adirondacker, Frank Shaw brings his love of this magnificent area to his ninth year mentoring ADK Trips. He’s had a wide-ranging career, including retiring from a nuclear submarine and human resources. Currently Frank teaches science at the Ticonderoga Central High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois University, and a Master of Education from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Frank is a fully licensed Adirondack Guide, with expertise in hiking, fishing, flat water canoeing and whitewater kayaking. He’s also an American Canoe Association Whitewater Kayak Instructor, and accompanies all of our whitewater trips. Recently Frank added to his list of credentials by earning his pilot’s license. He loves to fly as often as he can! “I like giving campers new experiences in the outdoors, because these experiences can shape who they’re going to become.”
