Assistant Program Director
Heyo! My name is Kyle Powers. I’m 22 years old, and I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio (home of Skyline Chili and Fiona the Hippo!).
After spending the first 19 years of my life there, I packed up and headed to Boston for school. I’m headed into my senior year at Boston College where I’m earning my B.A. in International Studies with a concentration in Global Ethics and Social Justice and also earning my B.A. in Psychology.
I’m currently on a study abroad/exchange in New Zealand and will be hightailing it across the globe once my exams are finished to make it to camp in time for the start of another amazing summer!
The majority of my time during the year is taken up by my studies and my job at my family’s retirement planning firm, Powers Benefits Corp. My role there currently focuses on business operations and strategic growth, but I have been working there since my teenage years and have done just about every job that the place has to offer (I like sorting mail the most)
In my moments of free time, I enjoy writing comedy for a satire publication at my university, going for swims in natural bodies of water, painting, crocheting, doing lots of yoga, and taking time to slow down and take in all the craziness of life!
I can’t quite believe it, but this will be my 10th summer at Adirondack Camp! I don’t feel old enough to have been a part of something for a decade, but here we are! I am stoked and as always extremely grateful to be back for another summer!
This summer I’ll be the Assistant Program Director, helping Rachel Lannino with the backend work that goes into the building and managing of the individualized schedules of all the campers and the schedule of camp as a whole. Apart from that, I’ll continue my job from last year as a waterfront floater but only on certain days of the week to help cover activities while staff are on their days off. I can’t wait to get back in Lake George to teach some of the most thrilling activities at camp!
For me, the people and the place are hands down the highlights of Adirondack Camp. Each year that I return, I find a deeper sense of gratitude for the unique part of nature we are situated in and for all the vibrant personalities that camp attracts. This summer, I hope to help campers and staff build the summer of their dreams by taking advantage of the plethora of amazing opportunities that camp has to offer. I can’t wait to be back on the peninsula for another amazing summer! See you all soon!!
