Discovering Your Independence at Adirondack Camp
At Adirondack Camp, independence isn’t just one of our 10 plaques; it’s a way of life. Nestled amidst the serene beauty of the Adirondack mountains and our pristine Lake George, our camp offers a unique environment where children embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Here, away from the familiar comforts of home, campers are gently encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and explore the boundless possibilities that await them.
From the moment they arrive, campers learn to manage their own space by making their beds and keeping their belongings organized, cultivating essential life skills. With the freedom to choose their own schedules, experiencing new activities and organising themselves to get there on their own, they gain confidence as they branch out into uncharted territories, trying new things they might never have considered before. Independence is not merely about doing things on their own but about being presented with the oppurtunity to discover who they are. Campers here grow not only as individuals but as members of a community, learning valuable lessons that extend beyond the peninsula here.
From our Community Contract - Independence
This summer I will work to increase my ability to take care of myself, including my own self care routines and navigating to and from activities independently.
