Effort, one of our 10 plaques here at camp, is what we’re diving into today. Let’s explore how this fundamental value has shown itself in diverse ways across our camp in recent days. Effort embodies perseverance, determination, and the willingness to push beyond comfort zones to achieve personal and collective goals!

Training for Big Triangle

Next Monday, we’re gearing up for the Big Triangle, an epic 1.8-mile swim from Canoe Dock out to Anthony’s Nose and Glenburnie, and back. This week, campers preparing for the challenge have been practicing with “medium triangles”. Taking on such a feat demands serious mental and physical effort, along with unwavering dedication to reach the finish line. It’s a monumental personal challenge that fosters growth and boosts confidence. Check out some snapshots below of our campers in action during their practice runs.

Yesterday we had a Blue/White triple, Senior Water Polo, Intermediate Volleyball, Junior Treasure Hunt. In Blue/White everyone must compete, which can be difficult when we play a variety of different sports many will be new to. But it’s all about making a contribution for your team, embodying the plaque of effort and giving it a go. You might even just find your new favorite sport!

Today, we continue with the theme of effort as we host Forest Lake Camp for our inter-camp tournament. Four different land sports remain to be played, with all campers participating looking to embody effort and competitive spirit as we aim to come back from Wednesday’s loss. The day promises fierce competition for sure, starting in the morning and culminating in the announcement of the grand winner by afternoon!

Tonight’s Big Event

Effort isn’t just about physical exertion; it extends to our artistic endeavors as well. Today our participants in this session’s ADKChella will bravely push themselves to stand up and perform in front of the entire camp. For a few this is something that comes easy, but for many it is an enormous feat to sing a song, or play an instrument in front of a crowd, so we want to really highlight the courage and effort it takes our campers to do this! We can’t wait for tonight’s events.

What’s On Today

The weather today will be cloudy with a high of 82°F (28°C) and an overnight low of 66°F (18°C). It’s a Friday so our schedule is ABCDE and our evening activity is, of course, ADKChella!
