Black History Month celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of the Black Community throughout history. It’s important to honor those who have broken down barriers, shattered stereotypes, and made a positive difference. Yara Shahidi is an actress, model, and activist best known for her roles in television shows such as “Black-ish” and “Grown-ish.” She also strongly supports social justice and education, especially for young people. Shahidi founded the platform Eighteen x 18, which encourages young people to vote and become politically engaged. She is an inspiration because of her intelligence, creativity, and dedication to improving the world

Simone Biles is an Olympic gold medalist gymnast (with a record 7 medals for a US gymnast) who has won multiple world championships and broken numerous sports records. She is well-known for her exceptional athleticism and skill, as well as her support for mental health and body positivity. Biles inspires young athletes who want to achieve great things while remaining true to themselves.

Tyler, The Creator is a rapper, producer, and designer known for his distinctive style and creativity. Because of his authenticity and willingness to speak out about mental health and personal growth, he is also a role model for young people. Tyler, The Creator, serves as a reminder that it’s okay to be yourself, even if it means standing out from the crowd.

These modern role models demonstrate that, regardless of race, gender, or background, overcoming obstacles, breaking down barriers, and positively impacting the world is possible.
