Hi everybody,

Rachel here, ADK’s Program Director. I wanted to introduce myself and tell you all how excited I am to see all back on the Peninsula this summer!

I currently live in Maine and I am working towards a Masters in School Counseling. I have been a Social-Emotional Learning Specialist in Maine public schools since graduating from Hamilton College a few years ago. I love where I live because I can hang out by the ocean listening to the waves crash on huge granite rocks, or I can go into the mountains and SKI (my favorite thing to do). This winter I went backcountry skiing every single weekend! Another thing I love about Maine is the ice cream–my roommates and I have a ranked list of every soft-serve ice cream place within 30 miles of our apartment. My go-to is vanilla-chocolate twist in a cone with rainbow sprinkles from Lib’s Dairy Treats, if you are ever in Portland.

I can’t wait to see you all at Camp this summer. I am excited to learn how to wake surf, because that’s something I still have yet to try since we got the new wake surfing boat two years ago! My favorite night of the week is Sunday, when we have Gathering on Sign Point. I’m looking forward to all of us watching the sunset together and reflecting about our wonderful weeks at Camp!

Shawn is a second generation Adirondackee, parent, and now ADK’s active owner. Her parents bought Adirondack Camp in 1979 and she is proud that she is the reason Camp became coed in 1980. Shawn left her international energy consulting gig to join the ADK team full time in 2015. Shawn loves to hear the sounds of laughter rippling across the peninsual in the summer. She is an avid reader, traveler and baker (pumpkin muffins are her favorite). When she is not on the peninsula, Shawn lives in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA with her husband Kevin,their children Zan, Arion and Amy, chocolate lab Moka and their two sweet felines, Olive and Curry.
